Kunye Tibetan Massage & External Therapies Program Levels I & II

Our Kunye Massage program offered in 4 levels is composed of foundational studies in Tibetan Medicine, in-depth Tibetan Kunye and external therapies study and practice, includes cupping, hot stones, compresses, medicinal oils, mild moxibustion, medicinal baths and other treatments. Participants who complete this program are certified as a Tibetan Kunye Massage and External Therapies Practitioner.  

What is Kunye External Therapy?

Kunye is the ancient form of massage therapy taught in Traditional Tibetan Medicine. It is an effective, dynamic healing art. Presented in the classical texts of Tibetan Medicine, Kunye has been transcribed and formally taught for many centuries. The Kunye training course is the primary entry point for Traditional Tibetan Medicine training in the West.

 

Level I Course Content

Here is what you will learn in Level I of this Kunye traditional massage training:

Theory

The Five Elements of the body
The causes of diseases
The purpose of Kunye massage
How to perform the massage
The benefits, effects, contraindications
You will learn about the location of the points of Lung, Tripa, Bekken
Practice:

Oil application
Learn how to practically perform of all the basic massage techniques
You will practically learn how to massage various parts of the body: back, head, neck, arms, legs, neck, head points
You will learn how to do a full Kunye practice

Level II Course Content
Here is what you will learn in Level II of this Kunye traditional massage training:

Identify the points from Gyu-shi and the health benefits
Discover the points of Rlung, Tripa and Bekken, points of hollow and dense organs, points of nerves, joints and muscles
Practically use compresses: hot-salt, stone, ceramic, moxa (without detailed study); and cold-water, herbal, of precious stones, metal
Muscular anatomy of the neck, back, buttock, hands and feet
Explore nerves and joints of the neck, back, waist, hips, knees, ankles, shoulder, elbow and wrist
Learn the practical use of cupping: points for cupping, practical application, recognition of the disease by skin color, manipulation with cupping and the benefits of cupping
Interactive classes in which you can discuss your questions and have some answers regarding what you learn in the training – theory, practice, tips on the right approach as a Tibetan massage practitioner.
